Where it all Began
We understand, because we've been there.
Not too long ago, I was a first-time mother who felt like a failure because my baby would not sleep independently, in her crib, as I was told she should. It led to my postpartum anxiety and depression, and even a desperate attempt at sleep training that just felt so awful. Bedsharing became our only real choice and solution, and I had to put my shame and fear aside and truly trust that we were doing what was best for our family. Still, we had some sleep challenges, and I had difficulty finding sleep support that aligned with my parenting values.
This is what sparked my passion for helping families who don’t want to sleep train. I believe families still deserve support when it gets tough, even if they don’t buy into sleep training. That’s what I’m here for.
I don’t think the credentials behind a person’s name makes them an authority figure. I want to be clear that I believe you, as the parent, are the expert here. But, in case you’re interested in how I got to be doing what I’m doing, here’s a little bit more about my background:
I’m a Texas Aggie, where I studied Kinesiology, and then I attended Texas Woman’s University to earn my graduate degree in Occupational Therapy. I have specialized training in pelvic health, breastfeeding, and perinatal health. I am trained in perinatal mental health through Postpartum Support International, and I’m a certified Sleep & Well-being Specialist.
Some other interests of mine that you may find me talking about on the blog, the podcast, or on IG include: child development, homeschooling, gardening, and non-toxic living. Head on over to the blog if you want to get my insights and reflections about those topics!
